Craft

  • Bibles or the Superbook Bible App
  • Armor of God Pattern
  • Scissors for the children
  • Pencils, crayons, or washable markers

Copy the Armor of God Pattern, one per child plus extras.

You may wish to trim the margin off the top before handing out the patterns.

Have six children each read one verse of Ephesians 6:13–18a:

13Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.14Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.15For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.16In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.17Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.18Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion.

Distribute the Armor of God patterns to the children. Show them how to fold it to make a small booklet, with “Armor of God” on the cover. Ask individual children to look up and read aloud the scriptures in the booklet, then discuss each piece of “armor” that God has given us. Children may draw the piece of armor or write out the scripture verse on each page.

Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for providing us with everything we need to protect us from evil. Help us to put on the helmet of salvation, the shield of faith, the shoes of peace, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Help us to remember to pray at all times and to trust You in all things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
