Leader Guide
Optional Opening Game
- Animal Pages (2)
- Four sheets of cardstock
- Ark Page
- Medium-sized box
- Scissors
- Cellophane tape or glue stick
Make a copy of the Ark Page in color or black and white.
Remove the top flaps of the box or fold them into the box.
Glue or tape the Ark Page to the side of the box. If needed, trim it to fit.
Make two copies of each Animal Page in color or black and white on cardstock.
Use scissors to cut out the 24 cards. There should be two of each animal.
Make two stacks of twelve different animal cards—no duplicates.
Note: for smaller classes, use fewer pairs of animal cards.
Raise your hand if you can name a place where you can go to see many different animals. Children respond.
Who can name one place you can go? A zoo, an aquarium, a jungle, the ocean.
In
our class today, we will see a lot of animals, too!
Hold up the animal cards. There is one animal on each card.
Place the cards from one stack face-down in three rows of four
cards on a table or the floor. Hold the other stack of cards face-down. Place
the “ark” next to the cards.
There are two of each animal card. One is in this stack of cards I am holding, and one is on the floor/table. In this game, I will turn over a card, and you will each take a turn to pick a card on the floor/table to try and find the same animal.
When a pair is found, display the pair and have the child place them in the “ark.”
If an incorrect card is selected, the card is turned face down again in the same position.
Continue this way for each child until all the matching animals are found.
After each card is found, turn over a new card and repeat.
Note: For an easier/faster game, leave incorrect cards face-up after being selected.
How many of each animal do you see? Two!
Having two of each animal is important in today’s Bible story, and we will soon find out why!
Today’s lesson is about obedience. Can someone tell us what obedience means or what it means to obey? Children respond.
Obedience is cheerfully doing what you are told—right away.
Can anyone share a time you did what someone asked you to do? Children respond.
Being obedient isn’t always easy or fun, but God is pleased when we obey. In today’s video, we will join Miss Tina and the robots at Quantum Labs as they learn the importance of being obedient, even when it means changing your plans!
