Opening Time

Welcome and Prayer (4 minutes)

Hello, and welcome to all of our families! Thank you for accepting our invitation to be a part of our Superbook Celebration.

If your group is not too large, allow time for the children to introduce their families.

n the next hour you will watch some exciting Superbook videos, sing some worship songs, and participate in fun activities similar to the ones the children have experienced in our Superbook curriculum. Who can tell us something you have learned from one of our Superbook lessons? Allow a few children to stand and share something they have learned.

Does anyone know what salvation means?

Salvation means to save, rescue, or set free from sin. God provided a way—one way—for us to be saved, and that is what we celebrate today!

Let’s pray. Dear God, we are so thankful to have so many families with us today to celebrate our salvation, which You provided through Your Son, Jesus. We thank You for Your presence here as we gather to honor You and learn more about Your plan to rescue us from our sin. We ask that Your Holy Spirit would flow freely in this room, bringing a fresh touch to each person as we focus on You. In Jesus’ saving name we pray, Amen.

Now, let’s all worship Jesus together as we sing Follow Jesus. Parents, see if you can keep up with your children as we all do the motions together!

Play Video 11: (Song) Follow Jesus (3 minutes)

Follow Jesus

You may play this song or any other music video that your class enjoyed.

Be sure to preview the song so you can sing along and do the motions with the children.

That was wonderful! One of my favorite things is to worship God with the children each week—adding the voices of our families today was an extra-special treat!

SuperTruth

  • Copy Patterns: Celebration Option 2
  • Practice the presentation with the pattern pages to assure a smooth delivery.

Display and lead a discussion for each picture in order.

Display Page A1—Tree. This is a beautiful tree, and tall, too! Let’s say you are playing ball and the ball gets stuck in a branch too high to reach with your arms. What are some ways you could get the ball?

Climb, use a ladder, use another ball to knock it loose.

Good ideas! So, we can agree that we have more than one way to get the ball.

Display Page A2—School building. What are some ways that children might travel to school?

Yes, there is more than one way to get to school, depending on where it is located and how far you must travel.

Display Page A3—Skyscraper. Some cities have very tall buildings like this. Now, imagine that you needed to go all the way to the top floor of this building to meet someone. How could you do that?

Elevator, stairs.

Yes, you really only have two ways to safely get to the top of the building—yet you still have a choice.

Display Page A4—Island. Have any of you ever been on an island?

There is water all around it, so how can you reach an island?

Boat, helicopter, plane, jet ski, swim—if not too far.

Good answers—there are many ways to get there! There is definitely more than one way to get to the island.

For each picture, there were at least two ways to get to the destination.

Display Page A5—SuperTruth. But our SuperTruth for today says: “There is only one way to God.” Let’s say it together. “There is only one way to God.”

Yes, there is only one way we can get to God—but before we find out how, let’s watch a couple of videos.

Introduce Bible Background Video (2 minutes)

In addition to the Superbook Bible story video that the children see in each module, we show two other videos to help them understand the story. The Bible Background video is shown in Lesson 2, giving a fun presentation of the archaeological, historical and cultural contexts of the Bible story. This helps children discover that the ageless stories of the Bible are real events that occurred in a historical time and place. It also helps them incorporate God’s living Word into their everyday lives. Here is the Bible Background video for the episode titled “Let My People Go.” Can you guess what story it’s about?

How Moses led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt.

Optional: You may choose to show any other Bible Background Video that your class enjoyed.

Children, remember that when Gizmo asks a question, wait for him to suggest some answers, then shout the one you think is right!

Play Video 5: Bible Background for “Let My People Go” (7.5 minutes)

Bible Background

Did you like that video? What are some things you learned from it?

Allow children to answer, as time permits.

Introduce Signposts Video (1 minute)

The Signposts video is shown in Lesson 3 of each module. This video reveals how the Bible stories point to Jesus and how He fulfilled biblical prophecy. This Signposts video shows clips from a number of Superbook stories, telling how Jesus fulfilled prophecies in the Bible—from Genesis to Revelation!

Play Video 6: Signposts Video: Genesis to Revelation (4.5 minutes)

Signposts

Yes, from the very beginning of time, God had a plan! Important events were prophesied or foretold in the Old Testament that pointed to Jesus hundreds of years later! Jesus will fulfill every prophecy before He comes to Earth again. Now, are you ready for the answer to our question about the one way to come to God?

I believe our children who have been a part of the Superbook lessons already know the answer—but let’s learn our SuperVerse today and see if it can help us!

Play Video 10: SuperVerse Graphic*

SuperVerse

Graphic loops 2.5 minutes without audio; turn off or freeze video after children repeat verse.

*If you do not have access to the downloadable videos for this lesson, write the SuperVerse on the board before class.

Our SuperVerse says in John 14:6:

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.”

So, is our answer in this verse?

Yes.

What is the only way to God?

Jesus!

Jesus is the ONLY way to God—there are NO other options!

In this verse, Jesus was talking to His disciples before He died on the cross and rose again. He had been telling them for awhile that He would be leaving them to go back to His Father, God. Even so, they were slow to understand, and the thought of Jesus leaving them was sad and frightening. They did not understand how they could eventually follow Him to heaven. Jesus gave them the answer that is in our SuperVerse. He was, and is still today, the only way to God! No matter what anyone tells us, Jesus is the only way we can get to God. He is the source of truth and the only source of eternal life!

Let’s all shout the SuperVerse—but wait a minute. Hold up one hand and look confused. Help me get this right. I am trying to remember—how many ways are there to God? Hold up four fingers. Is this right?

NO! only one.

Oh, yes, thank you! OK, now let’s all shout the SuperVerse.

That was good, but this time I want just the adults, age 18 and older, to shout it as loud as you can—1, 2, 3!

Wow, how awesome was that? Okay, everyone age 17 and younger, do you think you can beat that?

On the count of three—1, 2, 3!

Let’s all stand and shout it together on the count of three—1, 2, 3! All ages stand and shout the SuperVerse.

That was so exciting to hear your voices together! We all know the answer now, so we can share it with others!

Tower to God Activity

  • Tables, boxes, chairs, or any solid platform on which to stack blocks: 3–5, depending on size of group
  • Small wood blocks for stacking, such as dominoes or Jenga©-style blocks—at least 30 per team, with 3–5 teams
  • Video: Countdown Clock Timer

Place the tables, boxes or chairs on the front platform out of the way. Move them to the front at the beginning of the game. Leave several feet between them.

A Bible story in Genesis 11 tells about some people who came up with an idea of how they could work their way up to God. They decided to build a huge tower that would reach heaven! Do you think it worked?

No!

No, this was not the way God had established for people to come to Him. You see, from the time that Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, people could not come to God on their own because of their sin. What is the only way to heaven?

Jesus!

Today, we are not going to try to build a tower that goes all the way to heaven—but we are going to race to see who can build the highest tower in 1 minute!

Pick teams by putting some children without parents on each team with families. Have 3–5 teams compete at one time, depending on the size of the group.

Optional: You may tell the teams that they must have a child lay one block, then an adult lay the next block, alternating until the tower is built.

Play Video: Countdown Clock Timer. Shout “Go!” as you start the timer. At the end of 1 minute, the team with the highest tower wins. Teams may start over each time their tower falls. If time permits, repeat the game so all audience members can participate.

Great work everyone! I don’t think anyone’s tower made it to heaven, do you?

No, of course not! We know that we can’t build a tower or do good works to come to God. Let’s shout the only way to come to God!

Jesus!

Salvation Message

Practice the presentation to assure a smooth delivery.

Let’s talk more about salvation to help us understand what we are actually being saved from. What is it called when we disobey God?

Sin.

The Bible tells us the result or consequence of sin is death. Sin destroys our relationship with God, and the end result can mean eternal separation from God! So, how do we know if we have sinned too much? Hold up yardstick or ruler. In other words, how does God measure sin—what is God’s standard?

Let’s go to the Bible for these answers.

Display Page A6. Here is what God says in the Old Testament. Read Leviticus 20:26:

You must be holy because I, the Lord, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be My very own.

Display Page A7. And here is what Jesus says in the New Testament. Read Matthew 5:48:

But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.

That’s not good news, is it?

Display Page A8. Romans 3:23 says:

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

You see, God is holy and He cannot have any sin in His presence. That means we cannot have an intimate relationship with Him now or live with Him in heaven because of our sin. But, there is Good News! God has a solution to our sin problem—His name is Jesus, God’s only Son. Jesus came to Earth to die on the cross and pay the price for our sins! He came to save us and to set us free!

Display Page A9. Does anyone know John 3:16 (nkjv)? Let’s say it together.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

The world teaches that there are many ways to God or to heaven. That is not the truth. Let’s say our SuperTruth together:

“There is only one way to God.”

The world often does not see sin as God sees it. The world has a much lower standard than God and often does not view disobedience to God’s Word as sin at all. It is up to us to know and follow the truth. Do you remember who the truth is?

Yes, Jesus is the truth.

Point to the SuperVerse on the board. Let’s say our SuperVerse together. John 14:6:

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.”

Jesus is the one and only way to come to God and to spend eternity with Him in heaven.

Now, I would like everyone who has a name to raise your hand. Allow time for response and look around the audience. Let’s see—yes, that is everyone! It’s time for us to stretch a little bit. We will start at this side in the front row. Choose and point to a person to start. Have each person quickly stand up, shout their name, then sit down to create a wave of names. If you don’t want to stand up, that’s okay, just shout your name when it’s your turn! At the end of each row, the next row will begin with the person directly behind the last person who shouted a name. Are you ready? Go! Allow time for the audience to shout their names.

That was awesome! Now, let’s decide whose name is the best—which is the greatest name above all the other names? Allow a few seconds for response. Okay, I am just kidding—there is no name above all names—or is there?

Display Page A10. Philippians 2:9–11 says:

Therefore, God elevated Him to the place of highest honor and gave Him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

What a sacrifice of love Jesus made for all of us! This is God’s plan to save us and to provide one way to come to Him and have a relationship now and in heaven forever! There really is a name greater than any other name! God gave Jesus the name above all names and made Him Lord over all. We heard everyone’s name shouted out today. Did you know that Jesus loves you and died for you? Every name that isn’t represented here today, Jesus loves and died for them, too.

Display Page A11. Acts 4:12 says:

“There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”

Yes! In our first activity today, there were lots of ways to get to each destination, weren’t there? But, to come to God, there is only one way!

Now, let’s worship God and thank Him for His gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus.

Invitation, Prayer and Closing

This is a time to give everyone an opportunity to receive salvation, to pray and to gather names and contact information for follow-up discipleship.

For the salvation invitation, you may play the Gospel Presentation Video and/or lead the suggested prayer below.

We recommend having a prayer team in place to pray with any families who might request special prayer following the service. Consider giving a modern-language Bible or Scripture tracts to anyone who prays for salvation.

Play Video: Gospel Presentation with Joy (4.5 minutes)

Gospel Presentation with Joy

As we close our Salvation Celebration, we want to give everyone the opportunity to pray a salvation prayer. Let’s all bow our heads and close our eyes.

Dear God, we all have sinned and fall short of Your perfect standard. Even so, You loved us so much that You provided a way for us to come to You. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to live a sinless life here on Earth, then die on a cross to take the punishment for all of our sins. Through His sacrifice, we can have forgiveness when we confess our sins to You and turn from our sinful ways. Yes, Jesus died on a cross, but He rose to life again! He gave us victory over death so we can live with You in heaven forever. Jesus, we know You are coming again. Until then, You have given us Your Holy Spirit to live inside of us. Fill us with Your joy and peace, and help us follow Your will for our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Read Romans 10:9:

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Praise God! If you have prayed these words today—you are set free from your sin and have eternal life through Jesus—the only way to God and to heaven! Now that is worth celebrating! Let’s all clap for God and give Him a shout of praise for His glorious gift of salvation through the name above all names, Jesus!

Before you leave, be sure to take a GizmoNote with links to the Superbook website, where you and your family can find lots of fun Bible games, quizzes, contests, and the free Superbook Bible App. We also have a fun craft for you to do together at home, called “The Road Home Maze.” God bless you!
