Noah Says
- No supplies
Note: If time is short, skip this game or save it until the end of class.
The game we are going to play is like a game called “Simon Says.” But our game is called “Noah Says.” You will only do the motion or sound if you hear “Noah Says” first. If Noah doesn’t say to do it, then just stay very still! Are you ready?
Have the children stand. Give each direction below, beginning some by saying “Noah Says” and others without saying it, to see if the children are really listening!
If a child doesn’t follow the directions, do not have them sit “out” for the rest of the game.
Note: On unfamiliar “builder” actions, model the action for the children to follow.
[Noah says:]
Baa like a sheep.
Jump up and down.
Saw a tree branch.
Bark like a puppy.
Hammer a board.
Skip in place.
Oink like a pig.
Twirl around three times.
Cluck like a chicken.
Pat your head.
Paint the ark (boat).
Neigh like a horse.
Cover your head from the rain.
Growl like a tiger.
Chirp like a bird.
Hiss like a snake.
Pat your tummy.
Moo like a cow.
Shout “AMEN!”
Fly like a dove.
Look at the rainbow in the sky.
Snap like an alligator.
Rock back and forth like a boat in the waves.
Wiggle your ears.
Wave goodbye.
Add other directions until it is time to do the next activity.
You may choose to play in three different ways:
● Noah stands at the head of the class and gives directions to follow (or not to follow, if you don’t begin by saying “Noah says”).
● Noah stands in the circle of children to give directions. This is a good choice for a small room.
● Noah can lead the children around the room in a parade and do different actions or noises to follow. This is fun in a large room or outside. Consider having the children march in pairs or “two by two.”
Good job, everyone! You were great listeners and did what Noah asked right away! When you cheerfully do what you are told—right away—it is called obedience!
