Verse to Go

Stand facing the children and lead them in repeating phrases and imitating the motions.

The last time we met, we learned the first part of the memory verse: Learn to be patient.

We practiced showing patience the last time by slowly counting to three before saying the words of the verse loud together. Let’s try it again!

Count to three holding up a different finger for each count. ONE, TWO, THREE! Learn to Be Patient.

Now let’s practice the motions we learned the last time.

LearnPoint to your head with one index finger.

To be patient Lift both hands palm-down and then slowly push down.

Repeat a few more times slowly.

Now, I think you are ready for the second part of the verse: so you will please God and be given what He has promised.

Let’s say it together and add actions to help us learn the words.

So you Point finger to self.

Will please GodMake a big smile and point to the ceiling.

And be givenHold one hand out with palm up (to receive).

What He has promisedWith the other hand, point to the ceiling.

Repeat a few more times slowly.

Showing patience isn’t always easy. In fact, it is often hard to wait on just about anything! When we choose to show patience, God will help us do it because He grows patience inside us!

Note: Preschool children may not be able to memorize the entire verse. They may simply repeat it with you. Be sure all children understand its meaning and that being patient means to trust and wait without complaining.
