Text: Genesis 6-9
Make two copies of the Dot-to-Dot Ark Page.
Clamp the two pages on the clipboard.
God saw that the people in the world were evil. They did not obey God and do what was good and right. When you don’t obey God, it is called sin.
Noah was different. He obeyed God and did what was right. God gave Noah instructions to build the ark so it would safely float in the water during the flood. Noah followed God’s instructions and built the boat exactly as God commanded. Because Noah followed God’s instructions, the boat worked perfectly and kept Noah, his family, and the animals safe in the flood.
I am going to count to three. Then you can stand and shout “Noah obeyed God!”
One, two, three! “Noah obeyed God!”
In the video we saw what happened when Gears built the drone. Do you remember the reason Gears said the drone didn’t work? He said Quantum Labs made a defective or bad product.
That was not true. Quantum Labs designed the drone to fly, not crash and burn! The reason it crashed was because Gears didn’t follow the instructions! He built it the way he wanted to instead of how Quantum Labs told him to.
Hold up the clip board so children can see the picture. Raise your hand if you have ever done a dot-to-dot picture. Children respond.
This is a picture of an ark like Noah built. I did a dot-to-dot picture a long time ago, so I know exactly what to do. Begin at any dot but number 1 and use the crayon to connect them randomly up, down and across so that the picture does not resemble an ark.
I’m done, that was easy! What do you think? Children respond.
Look at the picture. Oh, wait a minute, that doesn’t look like a boat. Whoever made this page didn’t do a good job! Wait, the instructions say to connect the dots in order from numbers 1-9. Oh, I guess I should have read the instructions first so could do it correctly!
Remove the top page to reveal the new page. Hold the clipboard so children can see the page.
Let’s try this again and follow the instructions! Start at the first dot and have the children count aloud with you as you connect the dots in order to make the ark.
Hold the page up. There… that’s better! It is always important to follow the instructions, especially when the instructions are in the Bible!
Hold up the Bible. In the video, Gizmo told Gears that the Bible is an instruction book for life.
The Bible gives us instructions for how to live our lives safely and in a way that pleases God. The Bible also tells us how to love, forgive and serve others so we can become more like Jesus.
It is important to obey all of God’s instructions in the Bible. But when we mess up, the Bible tells us that when we come to Him, He is faithful to forgive us – every time!
Let’s count aloud on our fingers to three, then stand and shout “Jesus always forgives me!”
Hold up one finger for each number. “One, two, three! Jesus always forgives me!”
