Once and for All: Look up verses about Christ’s sacrifice to make us right with God.

Let’s say the SuperTruth together: “We are made right with God through Christ.”

Jesus willingly came from heaven to Earth to live a sinless life and die on the cross for our sins. By this act of love and sacrifice, we are made right with God for now and eternity. In this activity, we will look up verses about Jesus’ amazing sacrifice.

Note that the suggested answers are from the New Living Translation. If children are using different translations, their answers will vary.

Write the scripture references, one at a time, on the board for children to look up and find the answers. As necessary, help children not familiar with the Bible or pair them with a more experienced child. Have children raise their hands to answer.

1.    1 Peter 2:24.  Jesus personally carried our _____ in His body on the cross. (Sins)

He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By His wounds you are healed.

2.    Titus 3:5.  We are saved not because of the _____ things we do, but by Christ’s mercy. (Righteous)

He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.

3.    Romans 5:1.  We are made right in God’s sight by _____ in Jesus Christ. (Faith)

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

4.    Ephesians 5:2.  Christ offered Himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing _____ to God. (Aroma)

Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered Himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

5.    Hebrews 9:26.  Once and for all, Christ removed sin by His own death as a _____. (Sacrifice)

If that had been necessary, Christ would have had to die again and again, ever since the world began. But now, once for all time, He has appeared at the end of the age to remove sin by His own death as a sacrifice.

6.    Colossians 1:20.  Through Christ’s blood, God made _____ with everything in heaven and on Earth. (Peace)

And through Him God reconciled everything to Himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

7.    Ephesians 2:13.  We are brought near to God through the ______ of Christ. (Blood)

But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to Him through the blood of Christ.

8.    Romans 3:24.  God makes us right in His _____ through Jesus Christ. (Sight)

Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins.

9.    2 Corinthians 5:21.  God made Christ, who _____ sinned, to be the offering for our sin. (Never)

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

10.    Galatians 2:16.  No one will ever be made right with God by _____ the law. (Obeying)

Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.
